I've decided to try a new sport which I have never tried before in my life. Previously, I've done a surfing course in Bali and fell in love with the sport however, there are no surfing beaches here in Pattaya, Thailand where I live. With the opportunity of getting involved with C.A.S, I've decided to challenge myself and try out an alternative sport instead!
My Plans
Firstly, I don't know what to expect from Windsurfing as I haven't tried the sport. However, currently, my mother and I went to Jomtien beach (a Windsurfing/Kite Boarding beach) to find out about the course. I've decided to try out the sample lesson where the instructor teaches me basic principles regarding windsurfing. Then, later on I will get involved in the full beginners course. Initiating with my mum and the instructor, I've decided to go windsurfing every Saturday mornings, around 10-11 am. The place where I will be going windsurfing is called 'Amara Watersports'. The place got it's name from one of the owner, Amara. When she was younger, she raced (windsurfing) for the Thai term in the Olympics. The activity will only involve me and a Thai instructor (his name is Bo).

What I Hope to Achieve from Windsurfing
I hope to complete the beginners course in windsurfing where my first goal is to stand on the board, get my balance/posture right and hopefully gain control of the board and sail. I've heard that windsurfing demands endurance from all parts of your body therefore, since my fitness level is quite low at the moment, I hope to gradually increase it. Also, in the future when I've finished the windsurfing course, I hope that I am able to windsurf independently in the ocean without the help of the instructor.
Overall...
Through wind surfing I would like to become more of a risk-taker. I believe that developing my skills in windsurfing will help me to achieve this as I will most likely be tackling unfamiliar situations. An example is that when I am controlling the surfing board, I have to put myself in an uncomfortable position in balancing before actually gaining confidence. Also, since my balance is not so great, I may have to fall off the board so many times before adapting myself to control the windsurfing board.
